Since the Renaissance the collections of plaster casts have a fundamental role in the birth of the first academies. The desire to study the human body through the practice of drawing from life pushes the gypsary libraries to acquire an ever-increasing number of plaster casts to copy.
Even today, the plaster collections represent the didactic patrimony of artistic high schools, art institutes and art schools. Having classical subjects to draw or shape has always been a fundamental exercise for the learning and artistic training of students.
The advent of computers in schools has allowed, among other things, to use plaster drawings and to process images in a stimulating and creative way.
